I have the sad news to report the sudden passing of Roland on the 1st August.  Roland and his wife, Anna, were very active members of the club for a number of years, with backpacking, bike rides, and later on easier day walks around the Peninsula. Roland and Anna hosted an annual "Winter Solstice" event at their property in Red Hill, starting with an afternoon walk, then a BBQ followed by a big bonfire—a great event. They made sure that they kept in touch with people that they met through the club right up to the present day with lunch get-togethers. Anyone that met Roland would remember him as he was quite a character. He will be sadly missed.

A service for Roland will be held on 14th August at 2.00pm at Deora by the Bay, 21 Skinner St, Hastings,
