Some of our past events
Location: Bendigo to Axedale
We are planning an out and back ride along the O'Keefe Rail trail from Bendigo to Axedale. Planning to stop for lunch at the Axedale pub where there is likely to be outdoor dining set up. Last time we were there in the middle of 2020, they did take away and that worked all okay to eat by the Campaspe River which runs through the town. The rail trail continues to Heathcote but we will not be going that far.
Hybrid or mountain bikes needed. Not road bikes. Path is compressed gravel. The grade of the trail is fairly flate and we will go slow enough to accomodate all who want to ride.
Duration: 4.5 hours
We will be walking the Lysterfield Loop to Lysterfield Hill. As the name implies, there is a hill! Bring your camera, for birdlife around the Lake and the resident kangaroos are bound (get it!) to appear.
Location: Murrindindi Reserve
We will camp along the Murrindindi River.
Saturday is approx. 15 km medium circuit walk around the reserve and visits the spectacular Wilhelmina Falls. There are steep sections of the track and stairs. The tracks are well formed. On Sunday we will do an easy 12km river walk starting at the Cascades.
Camp fires are permitted in designated fire pits within the reserve.
Location: Yarrabubba Track -
Bunyip State Forest
Duration : 4-5 hours.
Track follows numerous horse trails up and down the southern part of the Bunyip Park. Large granite boulders are a feature, with excellent views from the higher parts of the walk. All on track- no bush bashing. Some quite steep sections which can be slippery when wet.
Location: Kananook Creek/Seaford
Distance: 12 km approx
Duration: 3 hrs
Starting at Oliver’s Hill, we will head along the foreshore and onto the Kananook creek Trail, which runs parallel to the shore and links Frankston to the Seaford Wetlands. We will follow this track to Seaford, where we will stop for morning tea. The return trip takes us along the Seaford Foreshore track, which is an oasis of remnant coastal vegetation and wildlife and boasts over 200 native plant species such as Coast Banksia, Swamp Gums and She-oak. We may include a bit of beach walking on this section of the trail. We then rejoin the Kananook Trail and head back to Frankston.
Location: Knox City Wantirna South to Upper Ferntree Gully
Duraton: 2hrs approx
The ride follows Blind Creek Trail, then beside the railway line via Ferntree Gully to Upper Ferntree Gully, all on sealed bike tracks. We then cross Burwood Hwy to return via the Ferny Creek Trail, then follow Scoresby Rd on bike tracks, to rejoin the Blind Creek Trail back to Knox City. The trail is mainly flat and very scenic, with lots of bush area and parkland.
Location: Mt Martha to Lilo Cafe Return
Duration: approx. 2 hours
A wander along the cliff top track with views down to the sea and returning via the footpath and back before it gets dark.
For your knowledge I will commence at 5pm from crn Watsons rd and the Esplanade Mt Martha at the car park.
