The club has many members of varying ages, abilities and levels of experience. There is a vibrant atmosphere and members are keen to meet newcomers and explain how the club operates. If you are unsure, ask for the President, Secretary or Walks Coordinator on arrival. Come along and see.
As a visitor you pay $3 for each of your three preliminary walks. As a full member the current fees are $35 per year for a single membership or $70 for a family.
Before participating in a walk we ask you to attend our club monthly meeting, listening to the briefing of each upcoming walk. At the conclusion of the meeting, you have an opportunity to sign up for the walk that you are interested in. At the sign up, you also collect the information sheet describing the details of the walk, such as starting time, start point and the equipment required etc.
At the monthly meetings you can hear information about club activities, hear talks and obtain written details of forthcoming walks from walk leaders, find out how to sign up for walks, and obtain a copy of the club newsletter "Boots 'N All".
The club meets at 8pm on the first Tuesday of each month (except January - no meeting, and November - meets on second Tuesday) Meetings are held at Mount Martha House, cnr Esplanade and Dominion Rd., Mt Martha (Melways ref. 144 H 12). Enter the carpark from Dominion Rd.
Each activity is graded by degree of difficulty from 'easy' to 'hard'. We endeavour to include an easy day walk each month and suggest that, irrespective of your level of experience, you start with an easy day walk. See Walk Grading.
The activities program includes day walks, overnight backpacks and base camps, and extended backpacking trips. The program also includes other activities such as indoor rock climbing, bike hikes, and social events.
